DUI charge against Wal-Mart billionaire Alice Walton dropped

Walmart heiress Alice Walton has a DUI charge filed against her dropped on Monday, September 9 after prosecutors from Texas failed to pursue the case due to the suspension of the arresting officer for misconduct. The Texas Highway patrol Trooper, who arrested Walton, was reported to be unable to testify against the billionaire since his suspension would go past the Oct. 7 deadline of the case.

The issue against Walton has been settled without further need to file formal charges, according to her attorney.

Texas Department of Public Safety senior trooper Gary Rozzell said that Walton, who was arrested along an Interstate in Parker County, Texas on her 62nd birthday, failed a field sobriety test and refused a breathalyzer test. She was arrested and booked into the Parker County Jail where she was released on $1,000 bond.
