24 suspected members of a drug ring in Texas facing charges

Several charges related to illegal drugs were recently filed against 24 people in South Texas due to allegations that they were part of a drug ring, an August 19 article of Bristol Herald Courier reported.

Reports revealed that 22 of the 24 individuals were already apprehended by authorities in the roundup they conducted in Crystal City and Eagle Pass. Federal authorities say that at least two of the people charged were school district employees in Eagle Pass. The suspects were transporting illegal drugs from the border to South Texas. Authorities recovered dozens of firearms, 660 lbs of marijuana, 5 lbs of cocaine, cash amounting to $110,000, 35 vehicles, and a bulletproof vest. A charge of “conspiracy to possess cocaine with an intent to distribute” were filed against the 22 persons arrested. The two others, who are still sought by the authorities, are suspected of facilitating drug trafficking by using a cellphone.
