Houston billionaire Goodman convicted in fatal DUI case
The Houston Chronicle stated that billionaire John Goodman was convicted of DUI manslaughter on October 28 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
This case was a retrial, as the original decision was overturned due to misconduct on the part of a juror. This time, the Palm Beach County jury took only four hours of deliberation before declaring Goodman guilty of vehicular manslaughter. The fatal DUI accident occurred in February 2010, when Goodman’s car struck that of 23-year-old Scott Patrick Wilson, resulting in a crash into the canal where the young man died. Allegedly, Goodman fled the scene and waited nearly an hour before calling the authorities.
