Teen Gunman Will be Paroled 6 years after Murders

In 2010, a 13-year-old boy reportedly gunned down the parents of his 12-year-old girlfriend. At the time, both the boy and girl faced capital murder charges and spent the last 6 years in juvenile detention. Now the boy has reached the age where the state could transfer him to adult prison. Instead, the court opted to release the child on parole until 2038.

The shooting occurred after the girl repeatedly pressured her boyfriend into murdering her parents. She claimed she was pregnant with the boy’s child and that her stepfather was going to force her into an abortion. Later, she showed the boy where her stepfather’s gun was and succeeded in convincing him to use it. Both children had a troubled history with violence and crime.
