Cooperative Baptist Fellowship executive coordinator divorcing her husband
Cooperative Baptist Fellowship executive coordinator Suzii Paynter recently filed for divorce from her husband of 44 years, Austin-based First Baptist Church former pastor Roger Paynter.
The CBF governing board affirmed her move, saying in a statement: “While divorce is regrettable, unexpected, and painful, the Bible does identify circumstances under which such a step is permissible. She has met the highest standard of biblical conduct in response to it. She has done nothing that would adversely affect her ability to fulfill her responsibilities as executive coordinator, among which is to provide ‘spiritual leadership in keeping CBF focused to its purpose’ and expressing ‘exemplary Christian character.’” Suzii Paynter became the CBF executive coordinator in 2013, a post she took on after being the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission’s director.
