A driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUI) charge was filed against Disney Channel actress Debby Ryan in Los Angeles after she caused an accident that resulted in an injury, an article of Huffpost Entertainment reported on April 13.
According to reports, Ryan, 22, whose real name is Deborah Ann, struck a Mercedes in Los Angeles. The driver of the Mercedes, whose name was not released, claimed the accident caused personal injuries. Authorities later arrested Ryan after she failed a field sobriety test. Upon arrest, authorities noted Ryan had a 0.11 percent blood alcohol level (BAC) whereas the legal limit is only 0.08 percent. The initial felony DUI charged against Ryan was later reduced to a misdemeanor. She was discharged from custody after posting a bail worth $100,000.

A drunk driving charge was recently filed against playwright Samuel Shepard while he was in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA Today stated in a May 26 article.
Reports revealed that Shepard, 71, was arrested in Santa Fe on May 25 after a restaurant security guard notified authorities. According to Police Lieutenant Andrea Dobyns, Shepard showed alcohol intoxication signs upon apprehension, and he failed a field sobriety test. The 1979 Pulitzer Prize winner avoided a breathalyzer test. Shepard told police that he was driving home after drinking two servings of tequila. As of this report, Shepard was still booked at Santa Fe County Jail and whether he had legal counsel was not verified.

An alleged intoxicated female school bus driver was recently arrested after crashing into several items on the bus route, 20-30 students on board, a KXAN article reported on October 16.
Reports said Kathy Loraine Legrand crashed a Leander Independent School District bus containing 22 to 30 children several times. On Monday, February 10 Chris Kattan, a former member of the Saturday Night Live cast, was arrested in Encino for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Kattan was driving in the westbound lanes of 101 Freeway at Balboa Boulevard when he crashed into the back of a stopped maintenance truck. The accident happened around 1 a.m.
Responding police conducted a field sobriety test on Kattan, which he failed. He was transported and booked in Van Nuys jail for driving under the influence. He admitted to taking prescription medication previously in the night.
Kattan is expected to appear in court on March 3 to answer the misdemeanor DUI charge.
