Domestic dispute results in scissor attack

Authorities responded to calls regarding domestic disturbance to a Chestnut Street apartment in Rock Hill at around 5:50 a.m. on July 26, the Herald Online reported.

The police found 50-year-old Harold Fitzgerald Roddey in the street on their way to the apartment, who said he was stabbed with scissors by his 42-year-old girlfriend Tarasha Denton after an argument ultimately got physical. The police officers reported seeing a puncture wound in Roddey’s arm. According to Roddey, Denton became angry upon finding out that he had another woman in the apartment.

Police investigators searched for Denton and found her at a house across the street. Upon being questioned about the incident, Denton said she did not stab Roddey. Denton was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and was taken into police custody on the spot.

Former MLB outfielder guilty of spousal battery

On Monday, June 3, a Los Angeles jury convicted former Major League Baseball outfielder Milton Bradley of domestic violence and spousal abuse. He is now facing up to 7 ½ years in jail, which starts on July 2.

Los Angeles city attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan said 35-year-old Bradley was found guilty of nine misdemeanor counts, including four counts of spousal battery, one count of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of making criminal threats after a four-week trial period.

City attorney Carmen Trutanich said in a statement, “Domestic violence will not be tolerated, regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, and violators will be held fully accountable for their actions.”

Bradley’s wife testified to having been choked and slammed against the wall by him after she told him and his friends to leave their house and stop smoking marijuana in front of their children.
